Social Media Content Creation

This SOP covers how to plan, create, and schedule social media content for BA House Cleaning.

Step 1: Know the Content Types

There are nine template types. Each has a specific purpose, sourcing method, and rules to follow. Refer to this table before building any post.

Template Description Frequency Key Rule
Holiday Greetings for US federal holidays + niche holidays tied to cleaning/the business (e.g. National Housekeeping Day, National Professional House Cleaners Day) As they occur Schedule first — these are fixed dates
Question Evergreen or seasonally relevant questions that connect to cleaning life 2x/month max Match to current season or local moment when possible
Multiple Choice Same as Question, but gives 3 answer options for easier engagement 2x/month max Keep choices distinct and actually answerable
Birthday Celebrant posts for office staff and cleaning technicians As they occur Check ClickUp task — some staff prefer internal-only. Graphic still required for Slack even if not posted publicly.
Anniversary Work anniversary posts for office staff and cleaning technicians As they occur Same rule as Birthday — check ClickUp, create graphic regardless
Meme Humor-first posts sourced from cleaning subreddits or Pinterest 1x/week max Must connect to BA House Cleaning specifically, not just cleaning in general
Meet the Tech Scrapbook-style feature on a cleaning technician 1-2x/month max One technician per post; rotate team members over time
Reviews Highlighted customer reviews from Trustindex 1x/week Track in the Reviews worksheet — mark posted reviews with a checkmark.
Before & After 2-page carousel showing cleaning results 1x/week Use real job photos sent through Slack by operations.

Finding and Tracking Reviews

  • All reviews live at Trustindex: https://www.trustindex.io/reviews/www.bahousecleaning.com
  • Ask Anita for access to the Trustindex account if you do not have it yet.
  • Track which reviews have been posted using the Reviews worksheet: Reviews Tracker
  • Mark each posted review with a checkmark in the sheet.
  • Update list approximately every two weeks. Check before selecting a review to avoid repeats.

Step 2: Plan the Content Calendar

Not all post types carry equal urgency. Build the calendar in this order:

Absolutes first (fixed dates, no flexibility)

  • Holidays (federal + niche)
  • Team member birthdays
  • Team member work anniversaries

Fill remaining weekdays with flexible content

  • Reviews, Questions, Multiple Choice, Memes, Meet the Tech, Before and After
  • Tie these to the current season or a local moment when there is a natural connection. It is not required, but it reads better.

Calendar Layout Rules

  • Regular posting schedule is Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays and birthdays/anniversaries that fall on a weekend.
  • Lay out the full month in a calendar view before building in Canva. This makes it easy to spot gaps or accidental clusters of the same content type.
  • Aim to keep the same content type at least 2 days apart. No two reviews back to back, no two memes in one week, and so on.
  • Vary the content so the feed does not feel formulaic when someone scrolls through it.

Seasonality Tip

One of the higher-leverage calendar habits is connecting flexible content to what is actually happening. A few examples:

  • Labor Day is the first Monday in September. A Question post asking about long weekend plans fits naturally that week.
  • Summer questions can reference mess, heat, or outdoor/indoor transitions.
  • September through October picks up with fall cleaning angles (end of summer, back to school, prepping for the holidays).

Step 3: Build the Graphics in Canva

All content is built from eight standard templates stored in Canva. Go to Canva and search for BA House Cleaning social media templates, or use the direct link: https://canva.link/in65yqjor83h611

  • Duplicate the relevant template. Do not edit the master.
  • Name the design: [PLATFORM] – MM YYYY  (e.g. META – 07 2026 or GBP – 07 2026)
  • Name each graphic by its posting date in MM DD YYYY format  (e.g. 07 06 2026). This keeps the folder organized.
  • Export all final graphics as JPG.

Step 4: Write the Captions

Caption Style

  • Short and warm. Community-rooted. No promotional language unless specifically requested.
  • Write like a neighbor who knows cleaning, not like a brand account

Hashtag Guide

Post Type Hashtags
Meme posts #bayareacleaning #cleantok #cleaningmemes
All other posts (default) #bayareacleaning #cleaningcompany #cleanhomehappyhome
Holiday-tied posts Add a 4th hashtag specific to the holiday (e.g. #laborday, #nationalhousekeepingday)
Meme rule clarification Meme hashtags apply to meme-format posts only. A playful tone does not qualify.
